This project was a reaction against “teleflage”—camouflaging cell and other communication towers as if they were the things we wanted in our social landscape: perfectly asymmetrical trees of hyperreal colors; comic golf balls of gargantuan proportions; inoperable clocktowers of no-time; steeples of actual or imagined places of belief—I wanted to document the towers as I saw them one winter in New Mexico, 2000–2001.
